With the idea of taking Art into the public domain and engaging people in the process of Art and its appreciation, we had started the “Sublime Expressions – Art Initiative Series” in Oct 2009, wherein the audience participation was not only from the established art community & art students, but also, people, who have an interest in fine art. Ten sessions during 2009-10 showcased different techniques in painting by Indian artists from different parts of the country. These demonstration cum interactive sessions were highly appreciated, both by the audience as well as the artists.
After accomplishing our initial endeavor, Indian Ateliers took the next step of starting a fine art residency through ‘Sublime Expressions – Residency Series’. Three residencies have been successfully completed under the program.
The express purpose of the residency is to offer the visiting Indian artists an opportunity to widen their horizon and perception by working in a surrounding which may be very different from their usual.
Presently the residency is being offered to artists using painting as a medium to express themselves. The artists have the freedom to choose their own concept/theme and work at their own pace.
The residency is for a period of 2 weeks during the first fortnight of each month, round the year, housed at the very beautiful location of the International Centre, Goa. The stay is provided for and modest stipends will be provided towards food, travel and material costs.
“SUBLIME EXPRESSIONS” is a registered trade/service mark of the Indian Ateliers.
